Stayton Lions Club
4th of July Celebration

Stayton, OR - In 1973 the Stayton Lions Club organized the community's first 4th of July Celebration & Fireworks Show sponsored by local businesses. In 1983 the Stayton Roadrunners Club organized the first 4th of July fun run. The "Run for Sight" supported the Stayton Lions Club sight and hearing program for many years before switching to other benefits, and currently being organized by the Boys Scouts. In the '80s there were several kiddie parades from the elementary school sponsored by the Kiwanis club.

In 1991 Lions Club members organized the first of the current Stayton Grand Parade to add to the Independence Day festivities. Others have also been involved, including the Moose Lodge who helped direct the parade for 10 years.

*ANNOUNCEMENT* - We are excited to announce that the 4th of July Stayton Grand Parade start time will be moved up to 12pm beginning 2024!

The 4pm hottest-part-of-the-day start time of the past has long been the biggest complaint we hear, to the point of some entries needing to cancel and some others unable to sign up. Our recent polling of participants and spectators has shown overwhelming support for moving the start time to noon or even earlier. The new start time of 12pm (staging by 11am) will not encroach into the morning activities of the Fun Run and Breakfast (8am-11am), and it will allow those organizations and participants to be able to transition to the parade.

We anticipate this new start time will help encourage a bigger and better parade that all can enjoy! And an additional benefit for the day is that families will now be better able to hold their get-togethers and BBQ’s uninterrupted in the afternoon before coming to the fireworks viewing grounds in the evening beginning at 6:30pm.

Enjoy your afternoon bbq's & family get-togethers!
